The Los Angeles Rams are expected to sign Carson Wentz, pending a physical. This move comes as Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford missed the team's Week 9 game due to a thumb injury, and backup Brett Rypien had a tough outing in the defeat.
Wentz, the former No. 2 overall pick in 2016, has faced his fair share of challenges since his sensational 2017 season was cut short by an ACL injury. After five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, he was traded to the Indianapolis Colts. Wentz's time in Indy was marked by turnovers, inefficient passing, and enigmatic mistakes. The Colts missed the playoffs in a heartbreaking fashion, and Wentz's struggles continued.
Last season, he joined the Washington Commanders, but the trade didn't go as planned. Injuries and inconsistent play led to a rollercoaster season, and he was released in February.
The Rams, on a bye in Week 10, are adding Wentz to their QB room. Head coach Sean McVay is known for his ability to rejuvenate quarterbacks. McVay expressed optimism about Stafford's return after the bye, but if Wentz gets the opportunity to step in, he should hope to resurge under McVay's guidance.
Carson Wentz is now presented with a second chance to revive his career and make an impact for the Rams. It's a fresh start, and who knows what the future holds for this North Dakota quarterback.
