PHILADELPHIA, PA - The New York Jets have made a move to bolster their edge rusher position following Bryce Huff's departure. They acquired Haason Reddick from the Philadelphia Eagles in a trade. The Jets will send a conditional 2026 third-round pick to the Eagles, which could improve to a second-rounder based on Reddick's performance thresholds.
Reddick, who recorded 11 sacks and 38 tackles in 2023, is a proven commodity with 50.5 sacks over the past four seasons. Despite inheriting a big contract, the Jets are hopeful that Reddick will make a significant impact on their defense. The Jets are stacked at defensive end, adding Reddick alongside starters Jermaine Johnson and John Franklin-Myers, and 2023 first-round pick Will McDonald. Reddick's presence could shake things up for McDonald, who is anticipated to take on a more significant role following a quiet rookie season.
There are concerns about Reddick's performance towards the end of last season, as he went five consecutive games without a sack (including one in the playoffs). The Eagles underwent a change in defensive coordinators mid-season, which seemed to affect Reddick's role and playing time.
