FOXBOROUGH, MA - The New England Patriots are heading into Phase Three of the offseason workout program with a crowded wide receiver room. While there isn't a clear standout yet, the competition for playing time will be intense once training camp kicks off in July.
The current WR group includes a mix of rookies like Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker, as well as veterans like Kendrick Bourne and JuJu Smith-Schuster. Head coach Jerod Mayo emphasized that it's an open competition, with opportunities for both young and experienced players to prove themselves. Despite Bourne's injury last season, the Patriots are optimistic about his recovery and are taking it week by week. With new additions to the team, Smith-Schuster's spot on the roster is not guaranteed, and he will need to show his worth during the offseason. As we approach training camp, keep an eye on the battle for the final wide receiver spots in New England.
