CINCINNATI, OH - Joe Burrow has expressed excitement about potentially playing Olympic flag football with his former LSU teammates Ja'Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson in 2028. This opportunity arises as flag football is set to debut at the Los Angeles Olympics that year.
The trio's interest stems from their incredible success at LSU, where they went 15-0 and won a national championship in 2019. Burrow's Heisman Trophy-winning season saw him throw for 5,671 yards and 60 touchdowns, with Chase and Jefferson as his primary targets.
The NFL has shown support for player participation, with executive Peter O'Reilly stating the league will work with the NFL Players Association to facilitate involvement. Olympic flag football will feature 12-player teams with five competing simultaneously in 20-minute halves.
All three players have continued their success in the NFL. Burrow and Chase have led the Bengals to consecutive AFC Championship Games and a Super Bowl appearance, while Jefferson has become one of the league's top receivers with the Vikings, setting a record for most receiving yards in a player's first four NFL seasons.
