Lions Rams Preview: Super Wild Card Weekend

By Sean Davis <> 1/13/24

Lions' Offensive Challenges: Rookie star TE Sam LaPorta's uncertain status due to a knee injury poses a challenge for the Lions. LaPorta's remarkable rookie season with 86 catches, 889 yards, and 10 touchdowns. Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds are expected to step up in LaPorta's absence.

Rams' Dynamic Receivers: The Lions face a daunting task in stopping Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua in the Rams' receiving corps. Kupp, rested in Week 18, enters the game with exceptional form, contributing four TDs and two 100-yard outings in five recent games. Nacua, a rookie sensation, set records in his brilliant first season and will play a crucial role alongside Kupp. The Lions' struggles against elite receivers like CeeDee Lamb and Justin Jefferson raise concerns.

Special Teams Challenges: Both teams, especially the Rams, have faced challenges on special teams throughout the season. The Rams' kicking situation with 16 missed kicks (11 field goals, four extra points) adds uncertainty. Lions have made a kicker change, and punt-return duties are up in the air. Special teams could play a decisive role in a game between two teams known for tight contests.

Who will emerge victorious – the Lions in their long-awaited home playoff game, or the Rams with their offensive firepower? Share your predictions below and stay tuned for the excitement!
