The NFL Draft green room will see more prospects this year in Green Bay, but one of the biggest stars—quarterback Shedeur Sanders—won't be among them.

Attendance Rebounds, But Sanders Stays Home

After years of declining attendance, this year’s NFL Draft green room will host 17 prospects—up from just 13 last year in Detroit. However, one of the most talked-about players, Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders, has decided not to make the trip.

  • Confirmed Attendees: 17 prospects, including likely No. 1 pick Cam Ward (Miami/Titans), Colorado’s Travis Hunter, and Penn State’s Abdul Carter.

  • Notable Absence: Shedeur Sanders, projected by many as the second QB off the board, will watch the draft from home in Dallas or Colorado to be with family and friends, citing cost and comfort as motivating factors.

Private Workouts and Star Power

Although Sanders won’t be in Green Bay, he continues to garner attention:

  • Team Interest: Sanders is scheduled for a private workout with the New York Giants, who hold the third overall pick.

  • Big Names in the Room: Travis Hunter (Colorado) and Abdul Carter (Penn State) headline the attendees; Alabama QB Jalen Milroe will also be present, though he’s not guaranteed to go in the first round—potentially setting up an intriguing TV moment.

Evolving Traditions

Draft attendance has fluctuated since events resumed after the 2020 virtual draft:

  • Recent Attendance Numbers:

    • 2025 (Green Bay): 17

    • 2024 (Detroit): 13

    • 2023 (Kansas City): 17

    • 2022 (Las Vegas): 21

    • 2021 (Cleveland): 13

  • Historical Note: The record remains 30 prospects, set in 2014 at New York’s Radio City Music Hall.

Looking Ahead

This year’s draft will have more in-person drama, but Shedeur Sanders’ choice to skip the green room highlights changing priorities for top prospects—valuing personal comfort and family over the traditional draft-day spotlight.

Transition: As buzz builds for next week’s draft, all eyes will be on who gets the call in Green Bay—and which big names make headlines from afar.
