The Big News
Pittsburgh has been chosen to host the NFL draft in 2026, which is a huge deal for the city. This event is second only to the Super Bowl in terms of importance, so it's a big win for the Steelers and the city officials who worked hard to make it happen.
What's the Challenge?
Detroit set a new record for draft attendance this year, with 775,000 people showing up. This presents a challenge for Pittsburgh to try and top that number. Even though Pittsburgh is doing well in terms of its economy and sports scene, Detroit's success has set a high standard for future draft hosts.
What's Next?
Pittsburgh is still figuring out the details of how the draft will be set up in the city. There will be a main stage near Acrisure Stadium, as well as a fan experience at Point State Park. This park is a popular spot in the city, so it will be cool to see it used for a major sports event.
In 2027, the NFL draft will be up for grabs again. Denver is making a case to host it that year, with the Broncos hoping to show off their new ownership group. Charlotte is also interested in hosting a draft in the future, but they didn't submit a bid this time around.
