NEW YORK, NY - Saquon Barkley went from being a 'Giant for life' to signing with the Eagles. He will return to MetLife Stadium this Sunday, but he'll be wearing Eagles green. How did the Giants' former face of the franchise end up with their biggest rival?
Barkley's signed a 3-year, $37.75 million deal with Eagles with $26 million guaranteed (more than Giants offered). Giants GM Joe Schoen never officially offered a contract this offseason, and Giants owner John Mara said 'Going to have a tough time sleeping if Saquon goes to Philadelphia.' Giants fans have had mixed emotions as the nickname 'Snaquon Barkley' emerged on social media and former Giants RB Tiki Barber: 'You're dead to us!'
Saquan Barkley currently ranks 3rd in average rushing yards per game (96.4), with 5 total touchdowns in 5 games. He is also the first player in Eagles history with 100+ scrimmage yards in each of first 4 games. As Barkley prepares to face his former team, the question remains: How will Giants fans react to their once-beloved star now wearing rival colors?"
