The NFL international expansion is growing with the addition of four teams and five new markets. 25 teams participate in the NFL's initiative, with 19 countries now involved in the program. The announcement was made during the annual owners' meeting in Orlando.
Prior to the program's launch in 2022, NFL teams were restricted from marketing overseas, except for the Jaguars in the U.K. The initiative began with 18 teams in eight countries. Germany has become a key market, with 10 teams now holding rights there it has become one of the most popular markets along with Mexico.
Teams are showing varying levels of commitment to these new markets, with some focusing on fan clubs and flag football clinics, while others like the Chiefs are investing heavily in Germany.
Rams: Australia, China, Mexico, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan
Dolphins: Brazil, Spain, U.K., Argentina, Colombia, Mexico
Patriots: Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Brazil
Jets: U.K., Ireland
Steelers: Mexico, Ireland, Germany
Seahawks: Canada, Austria, Germany, Switzerland
Starting next year, the NFL plans to hold up to eight games annually outside the U.S.
The seven teams not currently part of the global program are the Bengals, Bills, Chargers, Commanders, Packers, Ravens, and Titans.
