The Panthers are benching former No. 1 pick Bryce Young after just 18 starts. Is this the end of the Young era already?

By: Sean Davis - 9/16/24

Head coach Dave Canales has made a bold move, benching Bryce Young for veteran Andy Dalton starting Week 3 against the Raiders.

Young's struggles:

  • 0-2 start to the season

  • 245 passing yards, 0 TDs, 3 INTs in 2 games

  • 55.4% completion rate

  • Career-low 84 passing yards in Week 2

The Panthers' offense has scored just 13 points in two games.

Despite offseason improvements:

  • Upgraded interior O-line

  • Traded for Diontae Johnson

  • Drafted Xavier Legette in 1st round

Canales, known for reviving QB careers like Geno Smith and Baker Mayfield, seems to think Dalton gives them the best chance to win now.

Remember, Carolina traded away:

  • DJ Moore

  • 2024 1st overall pick (Caleb Williams) to draft Young in 2023

Is this just a temporary setback for Young, or the beginning of the end? And can Andy Dalton save the Panthers' season?
